Telugu Desam Party leader Kinjarapu Yerran Naidu on Friday ridiculed Congress leader Vayalar Ravi's statement that his party would expose the Chandrababu Naidu government in Andhra Pradesh.
Vayalar Ravi was recently appointed as the general secretary of the Congress.
"Our state government is stable," Yerran Naidu told rediff.com.
The TDP government in Andhra Pradesh had 'always endeavoured to meet the people's aspirations and worked tirelessly for the development of the state', he said.
He claimed that the people had appreciated the development of infrastructure in the rural areas and the various welfare schemes initiated by the state government.
Asked about Vayalar Ravi's reference to the suicide by farmers in Anantapur district, Naidu said the state government was 'doing everything possible to mitigate the plight of farmers'.
"Compared to the Congress governments in the past, we have done exceedingly well. Hence, their criticism does not carry much conviction," Naidu said.
"It is a measure of the frustration of the opposition in Andhra Pradesh, chiefly the Congress, that all kinds of canards are being spread about our government," he alleged.
"We will go by what is in the best interests of the people of our state," he added.
Commenting on the TDP's walk-out from the Lok Sabha before the crucial voting on the opposition-sponsored Gujarat censure motion, he said, "We are an independent party with our own policies and programmes. Our strategy is not influenced by any external factors," he asserted.
The demand for Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's resignation was taken after due consultations and there is 'no change in our stand', he said.
"We have been supporting the National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre from outside. However, we have always voiced our protest whenever the government deviated from the NDA's agenda of governance," he pointed out.
