Three Indian-American women are among Forbes’ list of America’s 80 Richest Self-made Women, who have crashed the ceiling and “blazed her own trail.” Leading the Indian-American trailblazers at number 18 is Arista Networks president and CEO Jayshree Ullal.

The 58-year-old Ullal of Saratoga Springs, California, has been leading the computer networking firm since 2008. Forbes says that -traded company recorded revenues of $2.2 billion in 2018. Ullal owns about 5 percent of Arista's stock, some of which is earmarked for her two children, niece and nephew.

In August 2018, Arista settled a multi-year patent infringement battle with Cisco, Ullal's former employer, agreeing to pay Cisco $400 million.

Following Ullal on the 23rd spot is entrepreneur Neerja Sethi, who cofounded the IT consulting and outsourcing firm Syntel with her husband Bharat Desai in 1980 in their apartment in Troy, Michigan. French IT firm Atos SE bought Syntel for $3.4 billion in October 2018. Sethi, 64, who had served as an executive at Syntel since 1980, got an estimated $510 million for her stake, Forbes says. But she did not join Atos after the acquisition.

Ranked 60th on the list is Neha Narkhede, cofounder and chief technology officer of Confluent, a streaming data technology company currently valued at $2.5 billion. As a LinkedIn software engineer, she helped develop Apache Kafka to handle the networking site's huge influx of data.

In 2014, she and two LinkedIn colleagues founded Confluent to build tools for companies using Apache Kafka, which became open source in 2011. The company raised $125 million in January 2019 in a round led by Sequoia Capital, bringing its total funding to $206 million. It counts Goldman Sachs, Netflix and Uber as customers.

The list has been topped by Diane Hendricks, who chairs ABC Supply, one of the largest wholesale distributors of roofing, siding and windows in America. The 72-year-old has a net worth of USD 7 billion. The list also includes media mogul Oprah Winfrey ranked 10, Facebook's Chief Operating Officer (12), reality TV star Kylie Jenner (23), fashion designer Tory Burch (29), pop stars Rihanna (37) and Madonna (39), singer Beyonce (51), author Danielle Steel (56), TV show Ellen DeGeneres (63) and tennis star Serena Williams on the 80th spot.
