Vidhya Duthaluru to head Uber's global engineering team

Ride-hailing major Uber has named Bangalore-based Vidhya Duthaluru as its new global head for Customer Care platform engineering, also known as the customer obsession engineering team.

In her new role, Duthaluru will lead teams in Uber's San Francisco and Palo Alto and Bengaluru tech centers “to improve customer support experiences and feedback mechanisms for millions of users worldwide, including riders, drivers, eaters, delivery persons, and restaurants.”

"I look forward to working with this talented team across our global tech centers in Bengaluru and Bay Area as we continue to make a significant impact on customer experience through new technologies and data," Duthaluru said on her new role.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Dhutaluru joined Uber in 2018 as the first employee and a leader of the Customer obsession team in Bangalore. Prior to joining Uber, she worked at the San Jose, California-based computer software company [24], as senior director, Data Sciences, Innovation Labs, and then was appointed vice president, Data Sciences Group. She is one of the few technologists who have worked in speech recognition and natural language understanding from the very early days of the emergence of these technologies and has been at the forefront of their commercialization. Born and raised in Mumbai, Dhutaluru did her engineering from the University of Mumbai and later completed her Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer engineering from Rutgers University.
