Shruti Haasan is off to Budapest to prep for a role that’ll mark her debut on American TV. Haasan has signed up with USA Network’s upcoming series “Treadstone,” which is based on the Jason Bourne film series.

She will join previously announced cast members Jeremy Irvine and Brian J.Smith along with new names Michelle Forbes, Patrick Fugit, Michael Gaston and Tess Haubrich among others.

News reports say the series might even get an international deal with Amazon. The series is based around a fictional CIA black ops program which trains its recruits – with the help of behavior-modification protocol – to turn into nearly superhuman assassins.

According to Deadline, Haasan will be playing the role of Nira Patel, a trained assassin who is using the cover of being a waitress in Delhi. She told Bombay Times that since the series is high on action, she will undergo “rigorous training.”

The series that goes into production soon has no release date yet. Kamal Haasan and Sarika Thakur’s daughter, Sarika Haasan has starred in several Tamil as well as Bollywood films.

She stepped into Bollywood with the 2009 film “Luck,” co-starring Imran Khan. She was also seen in “Welcome Back, “Ramaiya Vastavaiya,” “Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji” and “D-Day” among others.

She is currently working on the Hindi film “Power,” which is being directed by Mahesh Manjrekar. She will also be seen in the Tamil film “Laabam” with Vijay Sethupathi playing the lead role.
