It’s been a good year, professionally, personally : Aziz Ansari

Aziz Ansari can thank Netflix and his road tour for those paychecks he received for his comedy specials. Although last year began on a shaky start, the Indian-American actor and comedian found himself a place in the Forbes list of ‘Top 10 Highest-Earning Standup Comedians of 2019.’ Placed on the 10th spot, Forbes’ says Ansari earned $13 million last year.

The magazine says that “while Netflix is still a key factor, the road is the best place to cash in on comedy.” The list is topped by Kevin Hart with $59 million, followed by Jerry Seinfeld with $41 million. Known for NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” and the Netflix series “Master of None,” Ansari came back this year with a new Netflix stand-up comedy special: “Aziz Ansari: Right Now,” which marked his return to television following accusations of sexual misconduct made against him last year.

Based on Ansari’s sold-out “Road to Nowhere” tour, the new Netflix special gave the comedian the opportunity to address the fallout from the controversial Babe.net article. Back in January 2018, during the #MeToo movement, an accuser came forward to tell her story of an uncomfortable date with Ansari. The 23-year-old photographer, who chose to share her story under the pseudonym of Grace, described the incident on Babe.net.

Following the controversy, Ansari stayed out of the public eye pretty much all of last year, until he began testing the waters for a comeback late last year. Early this year he began his road tour. But it’s not just on the professional front that Ansari is finding success; he’s going strong on the love department as well.

According to news reports, Ansari and his girlfriend Serena Campbell were recently spotted enjoying a vacation in Spain. TMZ reports that Campbell went topless as the two strolled on the islands of Formentera. Ansari has been reportedly dating the 29-year-old Danish physicist for over a year now.

One of the first times Aziz and Serena were spotted out in public was in 2018 when they showed up together at the U.S. Open tennis championship in New York. He’s also made reference to her in his latest stand-up special. He joked that “people still have something to say about him being in an interracial relationship — whether it’s blatant racism, or fake woke-ness.”
