After receiving critical acclaim and appreciation for her performance as Tara, a poor girl from Mumbai's dhobi ghat area, in Majid Majidi's “Beyond The Clouds,” actress Malavika Mohanan has been reportedly roped in for Mira’s Nair’s screen adaptation of Vikram Seth's popular novel “A Suitable Boy.”

The daughter of cinematographer K. U. Mohanan, she made her acting debut with the Malayalam romantic drama “Pattam Pole” in 2013. She has since then appeared in several Malayalam and Kanada films.

A source close to the project told Pink Villa that while two other actresses have been shortlisted to essay the role of Lata Mehra in the series, Mohanan is leading the race as Nair feels that she perfectly fits the bill.

“The final decision will, however, be taken by the content creators, investors and producers,” Pinkvilla quoted the source as saying. No doubt there is a lot of buzz around the Malayali actress’ casting with the acclaimed director.
