Dibakar Banerjee's Netflix movie “Freedom” will star Naseeruddin Shah, Manisha Koirala, Huma Qureshi, Kalki Koechlin, Divya Dutta, Zoya Hussain, Shashank Arora and Neeraj Kabi.

According to news reports, “Freedom,” directed and produced by Banerjee, begins 25 years into the future and “traces the history of a family in three stories that are intricately interwoven with the personal, ideological and sexual history of India and how desire plays a common role in each.”

Along with “Freedom,” Netflix India has announced three new original feature films each by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane and Karan Johar.

Variety reports that Kashyap’s film, “Choked,” will star Saiyami Kher and Roshan Mathew. It tells the story of how a bank cashier’s life changes when she finds an almost unlimited source of money in her kitchen.

Directed by Motwane, “AK vs AK,” starring Anil Kapoor and Kashyap is about a movie star whose daughter is kidnapped by a filmmaker. While the actor star searches for his daughter the director films the desperate search in real time for his next blockbuster movie.

The third original feature comes from Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment, the recently launched digital content studio of Dharma Productions. Last September, Netflix entered into a longtime partnership with the leading Bollywood production house.

Johar brings to Netflix “The Other,” a four-part anthology on complex relationships. The directors are being finalized. The cast includes Shefali Shah, Manav Kaul, Nusrat Bharucha, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Jaideep Ahlawat.
