“Saving Chintu,” a short film by Tushar Tyagi and Ritika Jayaswal, is the only Indian film to be screened at the prestigious Outfest Fusion Film Festival in Los Angeles.
The 17th edition of the annual festival, one of the largest inclusive film festivals globally, will be held from March 6 to 10.
“Saving Chintu” tells the story of an Indian American gay couple who visit India to adopt a child, and explores the challenges faced by the protagonists and the emotional complexities within their relationship. It also brings more complex issues to perspective like child adoption and HIV.
The film stars Adil Hussain and Dipannita Sharma of “English Vinglish” fame, as well as Bollywood-based American actor Edward Sonnenblick, and Indian-American actors Sachin Bhatt and Priyanka Setia.
The screenplay of the film has been written by Sanyam Kumar and Corey Wright. Vivek Saxena is the creative producer.
Organized by OutFest, aglobal LGBTQIA+ arts, media and entertainment organization, the festival aims “to empower artists, communities and filmmakers to transform the world through their stories, while also supporting the entire lifecycle of their career — from outset to legacy.”
