Vir Das announces new Netflix stand-up special

Vir Das returns to Netflix with his new stand-up special, “Vir Das: For India,” which premieres on Jan. 26, India’s Republic Day.

Das took to Twitter to make the announcement. “ANNOUNCEMENT! January 26, Republic Day...#VirDasForIndia comes out on Netflix. A comedy special entirely about India. Celebrating our culture, our values, our madness...all of it,” he wrote.

On his Facebook page, Das shared a teaser of the show and wrote: Tried to do something different this time. No set, no stage, no swag....we're just gonna sit down, and talk about India. our culture, our madness...all of it! I humbly apologise for the things i'm about to say.”

Das is now one of six global talents to have three stand-up specials on the streaming service.

He has previously collaborated with Netflix on “A Broad Understanding” in 2017, and “Losing It” in 2018.

Speaking about his new Netflix special, Das told the Hindustan Times, “I think we, Indians read too much into the jokes, which ideally should not be taken seriously. We should let them run and slide, and forget about it.”

Das is also named as one of the top 10 comics to watch out by Variety Magazine.
